What exactly does Instagram verification mean?

Instagram verification is the process of obtaining a blue checkmark badge that informs other Instagram users that an account truly belongs to the individual, artist, brand, or organisation it represents.

You’ve undoubtedly seen a lot of verification badges. The small blue checkmarks, like with Twitter, Facebook, and, yes, Tinder, are designed to show that the site has established the account in question is trustworthy, or that they are who they say they are.

These badges are intended to distinguish genuine accounts so that Instagram users may be confident they’re following the appropriate person or company. They are easily identifiable in search results and on profiles, and they imply authority.

It’s simple to understand why verification badges are a sought-after status symbol. They’re uncommon, and their rarity confers a certain level of prestige—which may or may not translate into increased interaction.

However, Instagram makes it clear that verified accounts (like business accounts) do not receive preferential treatment from the Instagram algorithm. In other words, if verified accounts have more engagement on average, it’s because they provide fantastic material that connects with their audience.

Who is eligible for Instagram verification?

On Instagram, anybody may seek a verified badge. Instagram, on the other hand, is notoriously picky (and in many ways mysterious) about who gets verified. So, how can you tell whether you’re operating an account that’s on the verge of being “notable”?

Just because you have a blue checkmark on Twitter or Facebook does not mean you will receive one on Instagram.

According to Instagram, “only few prominent personalities, celebrities, and companies have verified badges on Instagram.” In other words, “only accounts that are most likely to be impersonated.”

What we do know regarding eligibility is as follows.

To begin, you must follow the network’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Furthermore, your account must match the following requirements:

Authentic: Is your account a genuine person, a registered corporation, or a brand? You are not permitted to be a meme page or a fan account.

Only one account per person or company can be verified on Instagram, with the exception of language-specific accounts.

Private Instagram profiles are not eligible for verification.

Are your bio, profile photo, and at least one post complete?

Famous: This is where things become a little subjective, although Instagram defines a notable name as “well-known” and “frequently searched for.”

If you’re convinced that you match these requirements, or if you just want to take a chance, it’s time to verify your Instagram account.

Your full legal name

Your “nickname” or “working name” (if applicable)

4. Choose your industry or sector (for example, blogger/influencer, sports, news/media, business/brand/organization, and so on).

You’ll get a direct yes or no within a few days or a week (others claim up to 30 days). There was no response or explanation.
